Clay cocked and eyebrow listening to Marius's speech. These things he had not heard before of Roland. What had Clauden become when such savages were taking the role of the sheriff. Surely things were turning dark, Clay thought.

Clay's hatred of those in this town was starting to intensify.

Sicilia patted Belle once more before she walked off. "I hope she finds, Pol," she muttered to Jamie. Her eyes were brought to the front again as Marius spoke. She had never met this man before. Nor, did she feel like she'd want to.

Clay noticed the woman Sicilia at the funeral petting a dog. This enraged him. He walked over to where the lady had just finished patting the dog on the head.

"Ya brought yar God Dang Dog to a funeral! Ya ain't got no manners there missy."

Sicilia slumped down in her seat a bit embarrassed. "She's not my pet, sir," she muttered glancing over at Jamie and Larghetto for help.

Clay shook his head in disgust. Somebody had allowed a stray dog to trot about unmolested while they were supposed to be paying their respects to Roland.

"Well ya shouldn't be encouraging that stray dog ta stay here. I'm gonna have to give it a boot out tha door."

"No you can't do that! Other than the fact that she's already gone back to her house, you shouldn't treat animals in such ways. I was paying my respects, sir, I was. She was te-" Sicilia cut herself off. She couldn't tell this pompous jerk Belle's secret like that. It wouldn't be right. "I mean, she looked sad, I had to comfort her," she amended hoping Clay didn't notice.

"I'm sorry," she muttered looking away from Clay.

Sicilia looked at her friends again. "What the heck?" she asked in a barely audible whisper, so Clay wouldn't get onto her again.

Jamie looked at Sicilia with a puzzled look. He shook his head and shrugged. He looked back in Clay's direction.
"Mr. Clay Hallow," he said. "You used to be sheriff, right? Why did you leave that position?"

Marius listened to Clay and Sicilia bicker. Over something as pointless as a dog at a funeral. Marius walked down and sat in the front row 2 seats away from Sicilia. He waited for a good time to leave.
