The disembodies voice once again spoke resonating throughout the tunnels.

"Stop, Don't," it said seemingly directed at Larghetto's actions.

"You must feed the worms. Feed the worms, the worms, worms."

The voice echoed, hallow, into the black abyss of tunnels.

Jean recognized Larghetto's mug immediately.

"It's you, oh thank God you are here to save us."

Jean ran to Sydney's side and gave her a big hug and kiss. She jumped up and down.

"Oh it stinks in here. Hurry Larghetto, drop us a line. I haven't even got my pickles yet."

"Huh?" Larghetto said, but obviously had no real interest. He noticed a conveniently located rope ladder and rolled it down into the vat.
"Okay, you madames get out. I guess I have to go feed worms."
He quickly got down and continued doing what he was told.

The rope ladder rolled down the side of the stainless steel canister.

"How very odd this all is," Jean said grabbing onto the ropes and climbing.

Jean looked down to Sydney, "Follow me up just in case I slip."

Jean climbed the length of the canister and then back down the other side using the footholds LArghetto had used.

When her feet were on solid ground again she looked and saw Larghetto hard at work feeding the gross baby worms.

"Oh NO!," Jean screamed, "You mustn't do that. Those worms will grow big like that other giant one and take over Clauden."

Jean picked up a rock and started crushing baby worms blow by blow.

"Hey, hey, HEY!" Larghetto said. He ran up behind Jean and put his arms around her, restraining her and pulling her back a few steps.
"Stop, s'il vous plait, Madame," he said in a quiet voice. "It is okay. It is fine. They will not take over Clauden. They have the entire desert. Clauden is such a ridiculously small part in the desert that they will not even pay attention to it. I believe there was one, maybe two occasions when worms came into town, and that was one particular worm. That was my fault. Je regrette. It is okay, Madame Hallow. It will be fine."

Oliver walked threw the desert with Mia right behind him. He walked in front of the whole and pointed down. He looked around to make sure it was just the two of them. He closed his eyes and a ladder appeared by them.

"Down there."

"Down there?" Miakoda frowned as she looked down the hole with her hands on her hips.
"Okay. Thank you, Oliver, dear!"
She began to step down the ladder, but stopped and looked up, smiling.
"Do you think you could think up a, oh, I don't know, torch of some sort?"

Oliver nodded and a torch appeared in his hand. He handed it down to her and turned away. "I don't want to be around with that thing comes back up." He said. It was even scary then the aliens he had seen.

"'Kay, that's fine. Thanks for the torch! Bye Oliver, I guess!" Miakoda called. She slowly descended the ladder into the dark tunnel and began walking, looking around.
"Largo? Are you in here?"

Jean strained against Larghetto's arms trying to break free but was not strong enough. She began to sob again while Larghetto held her. When she heard Miakoda's voice she perked her head up.

"Somebody has come to help us Larghetto,!" Jean turned to Sydney, "I have a real good feeling about this. I'm gonna get to finally taste those pickles after all."

Jean was tired from being down in the tunnel for so long without food and stale water. She was longimg for just one bite of pickle, the entire reason that drove her to take the trip to begin with.

"We're Here!" Jean screamed up to the entrance. "Please come down here and help us!"

"Jean?" Miakoda asked to the faint voice. She walked a bit farther and came upon the hole leading to the chamber where the others were.
"My god, this thing must go down hundreds of feet!" she exclaimed.
"Okay, guys, hold on. I'm coming down."
She climbed over one edge of the hole and her hands began clinging to the wall with a sticky green substance as she made her way down.

Jean waited, pacing back and forth, extremly nervous that her rescuer would become another victim.

"Oh please hurry!"

"I'm trying, dear," Miakoda said. When she finally made her way to the bottom of the hole, she jumped feet first to the floor and quickly regained herself, smiling and holding out her arms.
"Ta-da! Hi Largo! So is this all of you? I thought it would be more of a challenge. Okay, now you guys need to give me a pinky promise that you won't tell anyone about, anyone, about what I'm about to do, 'kay? Break the promise, I break your pinky."
She held out the pinkies on both of her hands.

"We're saved! Merci, Mia!" Larghetto said. He ran over immediately and gave her a gigantic hug, then linked pinkies with her and shook hands.
"Promise! You can trust me!" He grinned.

Miakoda glanced at Larghetto out of the corner of her eye.
"Yeah. No offense, dear, but I trust you about as far as I can throw you," she said. "On second thought, I could probably throw ya pretty far. Forget that statement."
Mia smiled and looked at Jean.
"I need you to promise me, though. With all sincerity. It's a matter of life or death."
