Carlos stopped crowing when the big man did not fall at his feet dead. He looked at the tip of his knife.

There were several chips knocked out of the blade where he had struck the man.

"Vamonos gringos, Vamonos!" Carlos said to the other vigilantes.

Carlos watched as the beams began to stagger from the deep cut wounds.

"Get away from this Diablo!" Carlos looked to where the others were retreating and started heading in that direction.

Travis was confused. He heard many voices but saw few faces due to the lighting.

He ran towards D's voice and was near someone when a rock that had become dislodged struck him on his noggin rendering him unconscious.

Will this be the end of Travis Hallow? Will Goop end up going to Belle? And will Jean Hallow ever have another chance to serve her son the tuna casserole he so loves?

Find out on the next installment.

Hellister put his hand on the mine's wall and felt that it seemed to be vibrating.

"Hmmmm," he said to Jamie and Sicilia, "I think it would not be wise to stand in this area near this display of masculine dominance. The walls vibrate as if it is going to be some precipitation."

Hellister heard Jean's voice in some distant shaft.

"Let us join Jean and Larghetto," Hellister grabbed both the hand of Jamie and Sicilia and pulled them in the direction of Larghetto and Jean.

With his nightvision, he was able to see that Jean Hallow had her hands tightly around Larghetto's neck.

He struck a match, "Why LOOK here Sicilia. It seems that if you don't keep and eye on him for one minute the the boy sneaks off with another woman!"

Sicilia looked up at Larghetto and would of thrown her own arms around Larghetto for joy if it had not been for Jean. Though Hellister attempted to anger Sicilia or make her jealous, it didn't work. Jean was married with a child. Not only that she was really old compared to Larghetto. Sicilia just couldn't see Larghetto going for the cougar type.

She let out a sigh of relief. "I'm so glad to see you're safe, Larghetto. And Mrs. Hallow," she muttered.

The anger inside of The Baptist was almost too much for him to take. For him there was not enough mayhem, not enough carnage, not enough pain. He bit down hard on his tongue in an attempt to cause pain, even if it was too himself. His soft tissue gave way and soon his mouth was flooding with the molten slag that ran through his veins.

He sprayed the slag and small chunk of his tongue out of the mouth in his mask in a cloud of burning death. D, who was right in front of him, was an easy target for him to hit should the man continue to challenge The Baptist in a match of strength.

Marius felt the deep strike of Alberts sword slash into Marius's side. Marius gritted his teeth as his body jerked towards the floor. Marius grabbed his wound feeling the blood seep out of it. The baptist was definetly not something that Marius could take in this state. Quickly Marius got on his stomach and began to crawl down the tunnel following Mr. Jones. Who knows maybe somehow this would save him. Either Marius was sure bleeding to death would be more fitting then being beaten to death like his brother.

D was astonished at this demon who bled Slag after biting his tongue. The slag flowed down his chest and on the ground in a heat that almost burned D. As the Demons spit slag at him he had no choice but to move.

D let his sword slide down the giants and rolled under the giants sword. As D's sword released from the giants he stepped behind him and was about to slash the giants legs when he realized that the giant bleed slag. D's sword was strong as diamonds but if this demon bled slag it could be more powerful then normal slag.

D stopped and looked to see Travis was unconcious on the ground. "Dammit" D muttered under his breath and moved over to the kid. He knelt to him quickly and picked him up with his free hand. Moving quickly around the giant D ran down the hallway to where jamie stood.

"Id run if I were you the giant is going to bring this whole place down around us." D said and moved past them running deeper into the mines.

"Yeah, we're okay, 'Cilia. Are you?" Larghetto asked, unperturbed, while attempting to free himself from Jean's embrace.
"What's going on out there? I wanted to come back and help but, as you can see, Mrs. Hallow wouldn't see to being left alone."

Something clicked in his mind as he watched the others run in the opposite direction. Following Mr. Jones would only lead him into a possible trap. Marius looked at the tunnel where others had gone. He felt his head pound to the pumping of the blood in his heart. Marius slowly stood up staring at the giant that was the baptist. That's where Marius made the smartest decision he had made in a while. Marius bolted towards the others. He ran faster then he had in his life. The pain in his side stung terribly but Marius gritted his teeth and kept going. There was no way death was going to claim him again.

"Hey, hey, watch it! Who said you could pull me around like some sidekick?" Jamie said, glaring at Hellister. He looked at D.
"He's going to cave in the mine? Hey, Hellister, can you find us a way out of here? Where are Eva and those other few ruffians?"

The Baptist was pleased that he had won the competition, however was equally angry at the people fleeing. In his primal mind he was unable to comprehend things such as structure or stability of mine shafts and simply viewed them all as cowards who deserved a most brutal of deaths.

He bent down low so he would be able to maneuver better in the tight confines. He would have been hands and feet if it wasn't for the fact he could not release his sword, and as such was only hand and feet. This position still made him considerably more agile than he was before, no longer suffering from awkward balance and a poor center of gravity. He began to race towards the crew that was eluding him when he caught a familiar scent.

Clay Hallow, the one person he was certain was dead. This was an injustice to him as great as any misdeed. The existence of Clay was a reflection to his own inability, something he would no longer allow for. He was well within sight of the group, however could not identify Clay, and was confused. He would not have to single out which one of these persons was the pretender. He began to close the distance between himself and the group.

"I'm glad to hear that," Sicilia smiled and looked on as Larghetto struggled in Jean's grasp. She bit her lip unsuredly and found herself rather annoyed by Jean's clinging. "Mrs. Hallow if you would please detach yourself from Larghetto? Wanting his protection is one thing, but clinging to him is another."

Her ears caught the noise of movement behind the group, and she turned to see Marius running toward them. Not long after she caught sight of The Baptist attempting to get at them. "And to answer your question, Larghetto," she muttered the fear coming back to her as she slowly began to back up toward the frenchmen, "That is what is going on out there!"

((((((OOC: Why you little pitch Sicilia! Maybe I am a little older than you but listen up girlfriend, I'v got plenty to offer Larghetto. You might be young and have creaseless skin but can you cook a tuna casserole? Can you do the laundry so that the clothes comes out soft and not itchy?

No, Sicilia, you can't. When the day is done all you can offer up is being a piece of eye candy.)))))

IC:

Jean was in such a state of sadness and shock that she did not respond to what Sicilia had said. Instead she continued to hold Larghetto tight and snuggled into his neck.

Travis lay still in Vampire Hunter D's arms. He had a large knot on his head where the rock had struck him.

Would D let Travis become the next victim of Albert and thus be forever at fault for encouraging the impressionable boy into the mines?

Or will D carry Travis safely out of the mines and into the hands of a competent doctor?

FInd out soon!

Marius staggered past Larghetto and the others. He just couldnt keep up at that quick pace. Not with a wound like that. He started to gasp for air however that diddnt stop Marius. In fact Marius managed to stagger to the exit of the tunnel without stopping. Marius panted for air as he heard the others talking down the tunnel. He stared at the grass feeling his body sway weakly.

Marius saw the color of the grass slowly change to a lighter color. Quickly Marius looked up and saw the surrondings around him change. Instead of being stuck in the dreary town of Clauden. Marius saw the rolling hills of what he believed to be Italy. Marius had never gone to Italy but he felt as if he knew that's where he was at. A man dressed in a legionaire outfit stood in front of him. He wasnt wearing the helmet however the armor look familiar to ones described in the books Marius had read. The armor was covered in battle scars and looked like it had come from hell and back. He was an older man around his 40's his hair was short and black which had begun to gray at the roots. In the man's hand he held a bottle of wine and had a playful smile on his face. For some reason Marius felt compelled to smile back at what he believed to be some sort of flashback in a past life. As Marius smiled he tasted the blood on his mouth he wiped the blood off of his mouth. That's when Marius noticed that his arm was covered in scraps and bruises.

"Now now you cant go running back to me...because you lost that fight cousin...remember that story I had about the legionaires and the elephant back in the war....16 men against one of those beasts....I saw a man get his head stepped on like a grape but no one turned away....dont ever turn away on your enemies I learned that and made it home...now go back" The man spoke calmly to the boy. After he was done talking he had the widest most geniune smile he had ever seen. Marius rubbed his head as it throbbed from a headache that's when Marius turned his back on the man. Looking into the distance Marius noticed what used to be a young male teenager in the distance. He was wearing a gray tunic and had black curly hair. That was all Marius could tell as he struggled to focus on the boy. That's when Marius saw things melt away into darkness. The rolling hills were the boy was walking away were gone and replaced by Marius staring down into that deep dark mine. Marius felt the pain rush back into his side again. He was back at Clauden again the vision he had was a welcoming change of pace from the wounds he had recieved in the mine. Marius remembered the words that the older man had said to him. Perhaps their was some wisdom to be found in them. Instead of walking back into the mine However Marius simply stared in a daze at the entrance expecting something to happen.

(OOC: felt like I should do another hallucination uh all the movements he makes during the flashbacks are all acted out in clauden)
