"Messieur Gohby Tween is a salesmen. He attempted to kidnap Fermata, allegedly burned down Allie's - that is, Alexandrea Fontain's - fruit stand among other things, was put in jail, broke out of jail, and yeeeah," Larghetto explained to Jamie, smiling sheepishly.
"I'll go in Fermata's place, 'cause, as you know, I hold no grudges."

"I'll go, too," Jamie said with determination, offering no explanation. He scanned over the letter again as the group stood in silence.

Wesley approached the Allemande house in time to see Larghetto and Fermata conversing with a smoking man he did not recognize.

"Hi, Larghetto. Hi, Fermata," he said, then, as an afterthought, added, "Hey... you. Larghetto, I was wondering... may I possibly stay in your house a few days? If it isn't possible, I understand. I... just... really have no desire to stay at the tavern again."

"HEY WES!" Larghetto exclaimed enthusiastically, much louder than necessary.
"'Course. You're always welcome, here. You might have to sleep on the floor, though, because Jamesy is staying and he is using the sofa.
Oh! Jamesy, this is my good friend Wes. Wes, this is my good friend Jamesy!"

"Wow, full house," Jamie remarked, smiling softly. "I'll take the floor, or I'll just sleep outside. I don't mind."
He looked at Wesley.
"Considering that my name is Jamie Caldwell, I'm guessing that there is probably more to your name than 'Wes'."

The mail carrier was heaving around an especially heavy sack. It was filled with several books of the same title.

The book read,

"Go Be Somebody. How to get out be-Tween a rock and a hard place."

It was Ghoby Tween's new self help book published by Penguin books Now, thanks to the hospitality of Gohby Tween, it is yours.

Gohby sent off several copies of his new book free to special people. Inside was a message scrawled in Ghoby's writing.

"Dear special friend,

This book can help you get on the right path. I will soon be renting an auditorium space for my free book signing and seminar. Please mail me a letter if you will be in attendance. Free food will be provided! Please forward that letter to Isril's masnion, where I will now be residing."

Also inside the book was a one dollar bill. Gohby had become rich by selling his book in the other county.

Wesley had enough time to reply just before the mail carrier arrived.

"Wesley Pressman, journalist. It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Caldwell," Wesley said politely.
He watched as the book changed hands to one of the residents.
I wonder what that's about.

"You too. No need to use formalities, though. We're all friends here. I guess there are three of us now," Jamie said, smiling. He looked over at Larghetto.
"Looks like you've got some more mail. What is it now?"

"Yeah, we're... les trois amis. We're like a posse now," Larghetto said, looking over the book. He took out the dollar. "So, apparentely, this book is by Gohby Tween, and he wants us to write to him if we're going to his seminar. He's having a seminar about how he's changed and stuff."
The last comment was an explanation to Wesley.

"What's with this guy? He's obsessed! What, is he bribing Fermata now? Isn't that going a little overboard to prove your point?" Jamie said, raising an eyebrow. "Okay, I'll write the letter. Oh, and we can't be a posse, Larghetto. You're the only one who works for the law. I'll be back, eventually."
He grabbed a piece of paper and some ink from inside and walked away from the house.

"I guess there are three of us now,"

Wesley was surprised to be so welcomely included into a group by a person he had just met. Of course he knew Larghetto... but Jamie did not even know if he liked or hated Wesley yet. Strange.

"He's having a seminar about how he's changed and stuff."

"Mr. Tween is still around?" Wesley asked unneccesarily. He frowned. "Larghetto, you have to realize that he probably really hasn't changed at all, don't you?"
I wonder if Alex will be at that seminar, he wondered.

"No, this is the first I've heard from him in a pretty long time," Larghetto said. "Maybe he has changed, maybe he hasn't. It doesn't matter, I have nothing against him. I would never hold a grudge against anyone." He shrugged.
"Oh, you can put your stuff inside if you want, by the way."

"Sure. Thank you, Larghetto. Thanks. I mean it," Wesley responded. He managed a weak smile.
"I should get going afterward. There are a few things I still wish to do."

"No problem. Just put whatever you have, uh, wherever," Larghetto said, smiling. "I guess I'll see ya later, Wes."

"Thank you," Wesley repeated for the third time, and added "Thank you," to make it four.
He dropped his things beside the door.

"See you later, Larghetto," he said, then walked away.
