When Mari noticed that there were fewer people in the house, she pulled herself through an open window and looked around. She had been growing bored, and thieveryhad becomeher favorite pastime.

She put random valuables she came across in her bag, hardly taking caution to disguise her presence. In a way, she wanted to be caught so she could have some fun trying to escape.

Fermata stopped practicing on the piano in her room when she heard noises. She stopped and opened her door warily.
Immediately, she went and found Jamie, who was the only other one of the now 5 residents in the house at the time.
"I think there is someone in the house," she told him worriedly.

Jamie glanced up at Fermata. He had been in Larghetto's room because it wasn't in use, working on a poem at the desk.
"Sure it isn't Larghetto or Wesley? Or Hellister, even?" he asked, but rose from his chair nonetheless and walked with Fermata to the source of the noise.
When he came upon Mari, he was genuinely surprised.
"What the hell?"
Jamie took his cigarette in his hand and blew out a puff of smoke.
"Hey, my friend. What's in the Allemandes' house that's worth stealing?"

"Doc, you ought to be in bed, what the hell you doin' this for anyway?"
"Wyatt Earp is my friend."
"Hell, I've got plenty of friends."
"I don't."

"Well, it isn't mine, but I'm sure my friends who purchased it would appreciate it, yeah," said Jamie calmly, motioning to Fermata behind him.
"Normally I'd understand, but these people here don't make a whole lot of money. I can sympathize with that because I pretty much live off of tips myself. There's a nice big house down the road that you might want to try. If you don't mind me asking, why are you stealing anyway?"
He asked this all in his normal cool, relaxed voice.

"Usualleh havetah in order tah live, but I don't needtah for 'nother 2 weeks," she says, "righ' now, I'm just bored."

She thinks over what he said and empties half her bag carelessly letting it drop to the floor, then turns her back on Jaime.

"See, now that's a legitimate reason," Jamie said, shrugging. "Hey, listen. Have you ever thought about getting a job? It's not nearly as fun, but you won't get arrested for it. Or you could just wander and mooch. It's nothing to be proud of, but you could."

"Nowya'see, fun is half the purpose, an' if I'm arrested, I get free housin' and food as long as I'm ther'. What'dah I hav'tah lose?" she asks, setting her card down in the middle of the room.

"Oh," she remembers, "be sure tah tell the French guy I stopped by."

Mari then proceeds to pick up the half full bag, waves goodbye to Jamie, and walks toward the front door like a common visitor.

Allegretto made his way to the door of the house. He had just arrived in Clauden and was going door to door to look a place to stay for awhile. So far he had been spat at laughed at and almost took a frying pan to the face. Here he hoped to have a little more luck.

He looked down the street to make sure it was clearn and knocked on the door. He waited a brief second before thinking it was safe to knock once again. Then he stood out side waiting patiently.

He leaned to the side to peek into the house, he truly hoped known one would mind. In the house he could see an older man and a couple of younger girls. He smiled as he looked at the girl with bows in her hair. Noticing he was steering he quickly went back to the door quite embarresed hopping no one had spotted the young boy.

Arriving at his house with Sicilia, Larghetto noticed a boy looking inside the door.
"Bonjour!" he greeted cheerily, not acknowledging this abnormal behavior at all.
"Did you need something from me? I ask this because you're standing outside the door to my house. Or are you a friend of Fermata's?"

"Stopped by? Stopped by? Jumped through the window and took his things, you mean? Actually, it's more like my things, considering my job pays for practically everything in this house," Fermata complained. She was angry with both Mari's thievery and Jamie's nonchalance. However, the more frustrated she was, the more difficult it was to understand her through her accent. Fermata then crossed her arms and addressed Mari as every swear word she knew in French. She could be a mean kid.
However, she abruptly shut up when she heard Larghetto's voice outside.

Allegretto turned to face the older man, he gave a quick smile. "Im sorry, Im new here in Clauden and am looking for a place to stay." He said. "So far everyone has turned me away."

He kicked the ground and caused dust stir just a bit. He looked back up at the guy, he wasn't gonna let him stay here he might as well not even try. He slowly turned and started as if he was walking away. "Im sorry, You probably have no room for me." He said.

"No. Wait! Come back!" Larghetto called after the boy. He caught up to him and put a hand on his shoulder.
"You can stay if you want, but I'm not sure you'd want to. My little sister and I live here, as well as my three friends who are presently without homes. We only have two beds and one couch and they're all taken, so you can stay but you'd have to sleep on the floor. That's why you might want to try somewhere else."
Larghetto gave a friendly smile. He wondered why this boy was all alone. He didn't question it, though. He was around that age when he left France.
"I'm Larghetto Allemande, by the way."

Retto let a quick smile cross his face. He turned back around to the older man.
"I wouldn't mind the floor sir, Ive been sleeping on the cold ground for months now." He said with a smile. "Allegretto, Retto for short."

Form all appearances one could tell that Retto had indeed been sleeping on the ground for quite some time. His shirt hand many dirt marks all over as well as his pants. His hair was in quite a mess and looked as if he hadn't washed it for a very long time.

"You're kidding. I haven't met anyone else with a musical name that's sort of like mine. My dad is with the Paris opera, and Maman was a ballet dancer, so both Fermata and I were named musical terms. That's great!" Larghetto said, grinning.
"Well, Retto, you could always use my bed when I'm gone. I camp out a lot. Anyway, I was just going to make some tea for myself and Sicilia here. Would you like some?"
