Fermata had fallen silent as she often did when listening to stories. She took the tea with a nod of thanks and wordlessly examined the floor boards.

"Amazing," he said when the story was finished. "I would like to see this man who can withstand a bullet. A magician perhaps, maybe something else altogether. Well anyway, I don't see how this has any relevence to us. Let the citizens figure that out on its own. All we have to do is wait for Jed. And perhaps my angel," he said looking towards Fermata.

"Hellister," she stood, brushing off the front of her jeans, "Whatever Gerard is, Im not sure. But he is a predator. And when a predator finds a prey it wants...it doesn't leave it alone." She turned, heading out, " And there was more then one possible victim, all of the attacks were unprovoked. He was -playing- with us." She went outside and mounted her horse.

"If you see him, stay clear, I dont want you guys getting hurt."

"Ha Ha Ha," Hellister laughed at Raven's statement, "I've been hurting from the day I was born for to live is to suffer. Whatever this Gerard may be he can cuase no pain greater than that of life itself."

He turned to Fermata, "So I guess pianist that leaves me and you. I will show you something." He went over to a bookshelf and pushed it aside. There was a doorway. Hellister opened the door. "Come with me Fermata," he said gently taking her hand.

Fermata followed hesitantly, while asking curiously,
"Does one really need secret doors in one's own home? How many people come into your house, Messieur Scowley?"

Hellister straightened his small beard, "Maybe the door isn't to keep people out but to keep people in," he smiled.

He brought Fermata into a dark room furnished with a small table and a chair. On the chair a figure, hunched somewhat, sat with their back to them. The figure, obviously a girl, stared at a picture of a sunflower that had been hung on the wall just eight inches away from her face.

Hellister gently pulled Fermata closer to the girl so her face came into view. She was not much older than Fermata but her face was rather sallow. Where Fermata's eyes showed life and spirit this girl's eyes were vacant of any emotion.

"This girl," Hellister said touching the girl's dark wavy hair, "is my sister. Quite a lot like a plant she is now. Every spring I have to cut her hair which will grow right down to the floor if I don't. After certain events, over five years ago now, My sister stopped talking. Now as you can see she just stares. She used to just stare at the wall but In hopes of curing her I put up this painting of a sunflower. It was her favorite flower and used to bring her much delight.

If I take her out of this room her head will instinctivley tilt up till she is looking directly at the sun. She will just stare at it and her eyes would be black coals right now if I hadn't built this room. You see she also wanders, rarely, but enough that this room is the best place for her."

Fermata seemed somewhat shaken. Was it legal to keep someone hidden away like this?
"C'est tres triste. That is one very sad story..." she agreed sympathetically, "But what has this to do with me?"

Hellister ignored her question. "Come lets leave my sister be," he said walking Fermata out of the room and shutting the door.

Fermata was quickly growing frusterated. She felt that Hellister was attempting to be dramatic in his way of speaking...and not speaking. She narrowed her eyes and asked with an agitated tone,
"Listen. I am sorry about your sister! But what is it that you want?!"

Hellister went into the other room. He brought out two large canvas bags. "Here is your camera, do me a favor? If you see a female vampire, tall with dark hair, take its picture. I would pay you well for it. I would like to start a collection of photgraphs of some of the creatures in this town. Perhaps I will decorate my sister's room with them."

Fermata took the canvas bags, apparantely not expecting them to be so heavy as she stumbled forward.
"Merci beacoup, Monsieur. May I leave now?"

Fermata sighed. She took her camera and let herself out the door, dissapearing off of Hellister's property.

Fermata walked to the door and knocked. When she recieved no response, she waited outside the house in the case he had just gone out and would return soon. Hellister had told her just to leave the photos, but she was concerned to find him not returned yet.

"It has gotten rather late and there is danger in the air presently. I strongly recommend you return home,"
Perrin was leaning against the other side of the building, out of sight.
