The rise in Jean's hopes was directly proportional to the number of holes becoming apparent in Cyril's theory. He smiled anyway. "Yes, Mrs. Hallow."

He shot a discreet look to Miakoda, as if to say "you're not helping either of us."

Jean rocked the baby a little bit in her arms. It settled down and closed it eyelids. She marveled at how cute her son was.

"I have'nt picked out a name yet for my baby. Clay doesn't even know we are having one yet so I didn't ask him for a name. Miakoda, do you or Cyril have any ideas for a good name for a pro... What was that word again Cyril? The one that means smart?"

"Prodigy," Miakoda said quickly, giving Cyril a sympathetic smile in response to his look.
The way Clay didn't know about the baby was beyond her.
"What about Aldwin, or Quinn? I think the former means wise, and Quinn is intelligent."

"If I had a son," Cyril mused, "I would name him Valerian, or Alabaster... or maybe something angelic, like Dredekea or Azaziel. Should we keep suggesting, or have you thought of one?" Cyril was generally rather dispassionate about children, but under the right circumstances... "Theodonias, Rathanael, Kohl, Eclipse, Helianthus..."

"Oh those are wonderful names," jean said to her company.

"I like either Quinn or Kohl. Let me say them out loud Quinn Hallow, Kohl Hallow. What do you guys think?"

Jean was never great at making big decisions by herself. She always had an aid around or Clay to help her.

Albert walks up, drawn to the scent of fresh blood. He smelt Travis once, in his gym, and noticed how much he reeked of Clay, and just now smelled this new person. He heard the loud cries’ coming from inside; it was clear to him what just happened.

He let himself in, the lock to the door not able to withstand a strong push from Albert. He walks up to where he hears voices, and the conversation about naming the baby.

“Honestly, I’ve always thought that Cable was a good name.” Albert says in an oddly calm tone, despite his normally intense nature.

“Jean, I’m getting tired of waiting around for Clay. Tell him, for me, that if he doesn’t step his game up on getting rid of all the filth in town like we had talked about, a certain Baptist before you will have to devote himself to baptizing your recently born son.” Albert waited for a response, not paying much attention to anybody else.

Jean cluthced her baby close to her bosom at the sight of the hulking intruder, as if her arms could shield her new son from such an adversary.

"Cable," her voice trembled.

"Clay is retired," Jean moused out shocked and confused as to how this large man got in her home, "Please, Clay has settled down for a peacful life with me and our two sons. He is not a gunfighter anymore."

Cyril made a move to stand between Albert and Jean, sensing the danger emanating from the man. His eyes flashed red.

"No." Cyril agreed with Jane. He knew just how impotent a sheriff Clay was in such a town as Clauden; he had let Cyril work for him, and even assist in the delivery of his child. "If you want a gunman, speak to Draegan, and if you want a sheriff, take the post yourself. If you ask me, the 'filth' will never be gone from this place either way." He was definitely afraid of the taller man, but still knew he could hold his own if the matter came to blows. His shoulder twitched, and his pupils contracted. "I will not let you harm Mrs. Hallow's son."

Albert closes his eyes and shook his head in disappointment, “Job has nothing to do with it. He made a pact with me, and he’s the most qualified to lead. You seem to think this is a negotiation. You will tell him, or I will return as many times as it takes. You understand me?”

"Blah, blah, blah. Yeah, no one cares," Miakoda said, rolling her eyes. "If you want Clay to know, go tell him yourself. We're not Clay's stupid little messengers. He's bound to come around here sometime. In the meantime, you can fix whatever you broke of the door in order to get in here."

Cyril gave Miakoda that "stop talking, you'll get us killed" look again (you know the one), and redirected his attention to Albert. "What sort of a pact was it?"

Jean was shaking. She didn't know of any pact her husband had made with this man.

"Oh no," Jean said, "What am I to do now? How can I get a restful sleep with this psychopath? And my sons, what about my sons? And my husband. I am going to need security now, and we have so little money."

Jean began to sob, in turn, baby Hallow began to sob.

Miakoda rolled her eyes again. She knew that none of them would be killed if she was there. Hurt, maybe, but not killed. Of course, Cyril didn't know that.
She crossed her arms and leaned against the wall, giving Albert a cold stare.

Albert didn’t care much for Miakoda, and found her loud and interrupting. However on the other hand he did admire her uncompromising behavior even in the face of danger.

“He swore he would bring peace, I helped in my best way possible. It worked for a while, but now, it’s all gone back to black. Sure, he’s done great things, however, is it good enough? Self hanging gallows, and is that the distinct smell of doughnuts I’m getting? Fat, lazy, uninspired. And yet here I am, enlightened ol’ me, willing to help him out, and he’s turning it down. All of this, done for you people. I mean, when I got here Clay wouldn’t even believe in the abnormal, and yet, I single-handedly convinced him to put away his differences with the things he hated. He is now on good terms with the new sheriff, alleged magic user. He rode a giant worm to try and stop me, a giant worm! All this and he’s throwing it away. Sickening.” Albert sighs and starts to walk away. Before fully leaving he stops and shouts back before he leaves, “Tell him, not a negotiation.”

Jean listened to the remarks with curiosity and a bit of sadness. It did appear to her that her husband had become lazy and uninspired.

And what was this about Clay getting friendly with people who used magic. She never thought her husband would hang out with creepy magic users.l

Albert had let doubt creep into Jean's mind. And at a very unfortunate time in her life. Did she want to be married to a man who hung out with people who did rituals, or rode a giant worm?
