The ranch owner nodded.

"It's free. From what I know, he'll be needing to leave town shortly. She's the fastest horse I've got, aside from Ail. And as far as I can see, he's done no harm to anyone here, witch or no." She let out a sharp whistle and the creature came forward, nickering curiously as it approached Hellister, seeming happy to see him again.

"And," Raven nodded to Fermata, "What about you child?"

"Merci, but I do not need anything... I was simply passing through." Fermata said quietly. She wasn't sure if she should mention why she was with Scowley or not.
"Oh, and I did not hear the entire story... What are we accused of..precisely?"

"Poor girl, don't you remember decapitating that cow with me and Raven?," Hellister shook his head, "Seems I have trouble recalling that fact too."

He turned to Raven, "I haven't had time to buya saddle for dear Morrigan do you have any in your tack room that I could borrow? By the way this girl, a real savant with the piano, her skill matches yours with horses, is named Fermata. For your kindness we will watch out for your welfare," he said to Raven.

The teen pointed to the barn.

"Take your pick." She looked to Fermata before sliding off of Ail.

"As Hellister said, we've been accused of mutilating a cow in order to perform some kind of cerimony." She sighed, stroking her horses neck.

"I'm going to get something to eat, and then head out to the site where the cow was killed." She frowned.

"I'm going to investigate this myself."

"Oh...that..." Fermata replied, mostly to herself, with a disgusted expression. She found herself standing idle with thought. Whoever plotted this would be found out. Though she was young, she wasn't stupid, and had dealt with these types of things before.

Hellister picked out a brown leather saddle, some reins, and other supplies. He saddled Morrigan who butted him with her head. "Fermata are you ready to go find our angel? And Thank you for the supplies horse whisperer."

"Yes, messieur," Fermata said quickly, snapping from her thoughts,
"Pleasant meeting you, Madame."
She looked at Hellister expectantly, waiting for him to take the lead.

Raven watched the two go, and went inside, eating some stew left over from the night before.

Several minutes later, she returned to her horses back, and headed into town.

~After her search~

Raven returned home, and released Ail into the feild after removing his saddle and halter. She stood and moved first, to the bushes where she had found the liver.

She didn't bother moving it, cause who knew who else would need to see it for their investigation. But she did examine it, taking note of the cuts that had peirced it when -whoever- had sliced the creature it belonged to open.

"As far as I remember, Aunt Ethelda said, that when performing a cerimony, the parts needed to be unscathed.

This doesn't match that requirement." She narrowed her eyes.

"Someone's simply trying to start trouble," she growled and headed out for a walk down one of the trails. She came to a full stop and stared at something just a little ways down, glistening harshly in the sunset.

Someone else, had taken a stroll down her trail. Without telling her.

She jogged up to the item, and raised an eyebrow at the blood stained saw. She knelt down, and poked a finger into the blood and was satisfied that it was significantly gooey. She rubbed the blood off of her finger in a patch of grass and stood, hands on her hips.

"Well aint that interestin," she commented as she bit her lip before turning and heading back to the house.

After having written in her journal, Raven decided she needed a drink, and headed out to the Tavern.

Jed made his way to the ranch and found Raven working in the field. He walked to her, "I guess I'm ready to tell you what I did," he said waiting for Raven to stop working. "I'm the one who killed that cow and made it look like you and a few others did it," he said sulking. "I'm a ready to go to the sheriff and admit I did it though."

Raven turned, and looked Jed over. She raised an eyebrow.

"I," she took a moment, "don't know what to say.

Thanks for coming to me about it." She tossed some hay into another feild, and then brushed her hands off.

"I'll go with you. I don't know why you did what you did, or why you confessed. But I appreciate you fessing up." She walked up to him.

"What's your name?"

Raven clapped him on the shoulder.

"I could always use an extra hand." She patted his shoulder as she walked past him just a little bit. "C'mon, lets get this whole affair sorted out before the sherrif sends his boys after that nice little girl and my friend hm?

We'll talk jobs when we're done."
