"We are going to main street and dragging in a bunch of vagrants. Sounds fun huh?" Clay started to walk to main street.

"Ah... I don't know if that sounds fun or not." Larghetto admitted as he followed Clay.

Clay rides up to Wade's house. He is riding on a coach painted black. It is designed for carrying coffins.

He gets off the ride and knocks on Wade's door.

"knock kncok...."

He kicks open the door with alarming speed. "You have come back! Huzzah!" he exclaims at an oddly loud volume.

He reaches behind himself and pulls out a notebook, "I must go over my findings at once. They were able to shock even me!" He says as he hurriedly motions for Clay to come in.

Clay's face lost its color for a moment from the shock of Wade's reaction. The sheriff had always been a little weary of the doctor ever since his son had the runny browns and Wade wanted to surgery on him to correct the problem.

"Ummm, sure," Clay said stepping in. Wade's house smelled funny. Like chemicals.

Wade walks over to the cadaver quickly. And peals back his eye lids, "Look, do you see? He saw the attacker. He saw it coming. They're dilated. He saw, then boom, he died. Died with lots of pain. See? First sign." as he says this he makes many hand guestures with his free hand, pointing to the eyes of the man.

"Now how much do you know about animals?" Wade says letting go of the eyelids and moving the decency blanked down to show the claw marks on the man.

It seemed to Clay that this Wade fellow swayed back and forth from genius to eccentric. It was as natural as breathing for this fella.

"I guess your right bout that" Clay said bending down to take a closer look at the pupils.

"I only seen one man killed by an animal before in Clauden and it didn't look much like that. A mountain lion had got hold of him and ate half of his abdomen and legs before trying to bury the rest.," Clay looked at the doctor.

He laughs to himself slightly and smiles, "Exactly! Exactly! This was a small bite! It couldn't have been for food! And after the kill, there was no effort to burry! And look! Look at his scratch. One, two, three, four, five! Five wounds on each side. Ok, so? Look at them! The dew claw an animal has couldn’t have made the fifth wound. They'd have to be the same direction. The all point inwards. No beasts can do that. It would have to be from a thumb!"

He jerks his head to the side and sniffs hard quickly before continuing. "Look at the bruising. The bruising is key. They are small, and hard. It was something small, and fast that made them. Not something that eats big animals. They eats other things. Smaller things. This kills was not for eating like we know it. This person was fast and small, and strong. You understand so far?"

"A thumb made that fifth mark," Clay repeated to himself as if he had just discovered the fact himself.

Clay remebered that the Minister had told him a "stranger," killed the man. Clay was not real familiar with "strangers," Piro told him some things about them but based on Wade's description of the wounds it didn't sound like that was the correct creature. Seemed like they were large ghouls. He wasn't even sure if he believed in these so called things.

"Small and quick you say doc," Clay said. "And humanoid you suspect based on the wounds. I guess I better put up a bulletin on the message board and start the hunt again. But for what?"

"I am not sure. It is something that has omnivore teeth, I can say that for sure."

He takes a magnifying glass from near by.

"This is the most confusing bit," Me positions the magnifying glass so Clay can get a good look, "This outside part of the wound. It was not ripped, as is the case with moth bite wounds from carnivores. It is crushed, as if a herbivore did this. However, the more inward wounds, sharp cuts and easy tears. Carnivore. So this has to be an herbivore. How many herbivores are there in the area of the size I talked about with thumbs? That's right only humans. So what’s that mean?”

"By god I know," Clay said proudly, "we've got ourselves a real vampire."

Clay then moved real quickly before the doctor could speak. He flipped over one of the doctors lounging chairs and snapped the wooden leg off with his boot. It broke to a nice point and then without further hesitation he lunged it into the corpse's heart.

"I read bout these when I was a kid," he said after he completed the task. "Them body's they suck off of come back less ya stake em with wood."

The body now had a huge piece of wood emitting from its chest. Clay looked at it and frowned, "Shucks doc looks like I just made your embalming job a lot harder. Think ya can hide that stake at the funeral?"

Wade’s jaw drops, and he sounds like he's choking for a moment.

"My chair!" He shouts out, "My chair...it's broke..."

He shakes his head for a moment and continues, "Vampires? The notion of such! I'll remind you I am a certified doctor. Do not insult me with such absurd accusations! Can't you see monkeys are the cause here? Monkeys man! Monkeys! Not vampires." he continues to look at his chair, ignoring everything else.

"But, I suppose I could fix the...recently chair leg now lodged in his chest. I just...saw it off and put a shirt over him. He has no blood, so I have nothing to clean." He says, sounding more and more depressed as he continues.

"I think you should however be more concerned with this monkey outbreak. As monkeys are not native."

"Dang," Clay Hallow says shaking his head, "I sure do feel stupid right now. I guess I best be goin. I'm gonna need to put a bounty on all monkeys in Clauden. I'll post a messge on the board $10 for every monkey scalp somebody brings me. Dangerous little critters."

Clay looks at the busted chair and then at the doctor, "Sorry bout that. Just throw it on your bill when I come to pick up the body. Seems your gonna need some more time with it, you know, with that stake thing and all. The town fund will get the tab," he says and walks out.

Wade exits the house, after completing his job. He wheels out a wooden crate with a dolly. He rests it upright, and closes and locks the door behind him, muttering something and leaving his coat behind. He struggles to get the dolly tilted again and then begins to wheel the crate away, continuing his angry muttering.

Wade leads the way for the cadaver, and gets inside his house. He leads Clay to the examination table and set him on it. Before Wade continues he plops down in his new chair, breathing heavy.

"Too heavy, can't breath. Gotta' rest first. Work...later."

Wade wipes his head with the sleeve of his shirt, leaving a trial of blood across his forehead, completely oblivious to that fact.
