"Oh yes, he was indeed at the...masquerade" He seems to choke out the word 'masquerade' as if it made him sick. "he was there...I heard it blew up. Big. I mean, I didn't hear it blow up. But I was told that it blew up by a reliable source. By Dan. By the Milk Man. By Milk Man Dan. Well, you get it right?"

"Yup, I think yar brother my have got hurt in it. Seems a lot of folks did," Clay sits down at the seat pulled up for him.

"It's been a long time since I had a sparring partner. Do I need a membership card for this gym or anything or can I just flash my badge or something?"

"For you, just flash your badge. Make sure everybody knows that."

He changes his facial expression to a bit more serious and clears his throat.

"He also said something about some new detective in town...and said something about her being head investigator. As in, higher ranking than all other investigators in town. As in senior investigator. Wouldn't know about that would you?"

"A senior investigator?," Clay grumbled, "The stupid Feds must have sent somebody. That's the last thing I need in this town is some big shots comin in from Washington. I can handle the problems in this town with out the Feds stickin their nose where it don't belong."

“Well, if the new investigator ever needs assistance I’ll give it to her. If she asks you anything tell her that. It’s not like I can leave here until I get my delivery anyways, so I’m here. Doing things. All day. They could stop by whenever.”

Wade runs his fingers through his hair.

“Aside from that I can definitely see this town heading on a dark path. This sudden new burst of…whatever it is that has gotten into the people here. I’ll do whatever it is a simple Doctor can from here. Whatever that is.”

"Maybe it is slipping onto a dark path but we don't need the federal government involved. All they ever want to do is study stuff and then turn it into a museum,' Clay shakes his head in disgust and hands Wade a small stack of bills.

"Here is the payment for the body. Where is it so I can wheel it away?"

He kicks the crate he was using as a chair

"Right here."

Wade looks around as if suspicious of people listening.

"Personally, I hate museums. They focus on a bunch of old guys and what they were. It's time for now; it's our generation, who cares about the past. Right?"

Clay looks down at the crate. Wade must have crammed that body in there pretty tight, he thinks.

"Okay then," clay says hoisting up the crate in a bear hug. "I guess I gotta do some haevy work now and carry this guy to the cemetary."

Clay heaves the body out of the doorway and begins his labored walk to the graveyard.

Wade smells the wd of bills before smiling to himself and closing the door. He stuff the wad into his back pocket and sits in his chair.

“I guess he likes my plan then”

He looks relaxed and then suddenly angry, when he realizes that his chair doesn’t rock.

Gohby still dressed in his now stinky Scarecrow costume knocks on Wade's door.

Gohby is in desperate need of an attorney.

Wade still somewhat upset about his rockless chair, opens the door, not caring who it was there. He looks the scarecrow dressed man over and thinks for a moment.

"Am I accepting recruits already? You don't have the black pants and shirt. Or the boots. And I never said anything about a mask."

He crosses his arms and looks annoyed.

"No sir," Gohby said clearing his throat, "I'm not here as a recruit. I'm Mr. Goby Tween from Insurance Incorporated. We met under less peculiar circumstances some time ago. I have been kidnapped from the hospital and I am a wanted man. I need somebody to represent me."

Wade looks puzzled for a moment and then remembers him, and looks a little disappointed.

“Oh, right. You. Of course I’ll represent you. Our first order of business should really be finding who the judge of this town is because I can’t find anybody but the sheriff, and I don’t know how good of an idea it would be to talk to him. So right now, let’s focus on our immediate goals. Remember that plan we talked about?”

Wade motions for Tween to step inside.

Gohby steps in and notices that the room has changed a bit.

"You may have to refresh me on the plan. What are the recruits for?" Gohby asks, "Did you organize some kind of ball club or something?"

Wade gives a laugh and closes the door.

“What plan? Our plan! Remember when we were at the hospital and you talked about getting rid of all the dirt bag people? Well I’m working on it. I’m changing them to better. They’re going to be nothing. Do anything. These are recruits to help us out. You think I can do it alone?”

Wade continues to chuckle during this, as if Tween was purposefully playing dumb.
