Mirror got up to make tea, and Peyton looked over at Jamie. "I own a tattoo parlor in the marketplace, and Mirror just opened up a gun shop." He looked down at his arms that were laced with tattoos.

"Tattoos," Jamie repeated, glancing at Peyton's arms. "How very interesting. I suppose it's as much of a form of artwork as anything else." He ran a hand through his hair. "That's a little surprising that your sister has a gun shop. She seems like such a gentle individual. But more power to her. Business will be good here." He smiled.

"I don't."

Mirror called from the kitchen, "well, I'm not really into guns, obviously. It was our father's business, so I sort of inherited it since I spent my child in the shop..." She paused and brought the tea out with cups and passed them around. "I kind of wish I could get a different career...but my father insists.." She looks down at her lap and plays with her fingers sadly.

"Thank you," Jamie said. He took a sip of the tea, then thought for a moment. "Well, do what you like, that's the important thing. Life's not all that long. Painfully short out here in the West, in fact. It's typical of poets to say horrible things like that sometimes, you know." He smiled. "I always did what my family wanted and never really ended up with too much. What other kind of career would you want?"

Mirror's face lit up and she replied "I wish I could be an actress...but its not my father's wish ...so I guess its not to be" Her voice trails off sadly and she takes a somber sip from her cup of tea.

"You could always do both, couldn't you? Acting doesn't have to be full time," Jamie said. "We have a theater here. I don't think it's been used very much since it was built, though." He smiled again. "But, yeah, like I said, you should do what you want, not particularly what your father wants. Not knowing the man, I can't say how he'd react to that, but I have to assume it wouldn't be desirable. That's usually how it goes. I'm not trying to create conflict or anything. It's your life, though. If you ever need some moral support or anything..." He paused, then adjusted his position. "Have you done any acting in the past?"

Mirror shrugs and tilts her head from side to side, when Peyton interjects. " Yeah, she had drama lessons and was in a load of plays back in France, she was actually quite popular!" He beamed at his little sister.
Mirror found this extremely embarressing. "I'm not that good..." She tilts her head down to hide the blush that is creeping into her cheeks.

"Really?" Jamie said, finishing what was left of his tea. He grinned. "Well, maybe you have something then. I was actually thinking about putting on a play awhile back, but I never acquired enough actors. It's true." He paused. "Why don't you act something out, right now? Do you know any Shakespeare monologues or anything?"
Naturally, Jamie, an artsy man, enjoyed theater.

Mirror shot a death glare at Peyton, then slowly stood up. She cleared her throat and thought for a moment, then cleared her throat again and started to recite a french play. Her voice was quiet and slow at first, but then slowly she picked up speed and volume until her voice was resonating throughout the house. She had the skills of a professional actress, and she looked like she meant every word of the ballad. When she finished she stood there awkwardly for a moment than sat back down.

Jamie had watched the act intently. Afterwards, he said nothing, and then a smile crept onto his face.
"'Not that good', eh?" he said, throwing a glance at Peyton. He chuckled. "Listen, I've seen some of the acting 'talent' in this town when I held auditions, and none of it was nearly as impressive as what you just did there. You lost yourself completely in your character. A difficult thing to do, I'm sure you know. Let me ask you this. Has you dad actually ever seen you act? If it's really something that' s important to you, and even if it wasn't, I wouldn't let that skill go to waste."

Mirror beamed at the praise. She shrugged, "No...I always got nervous when I tried to act in front of him... He isn't the type of person who is supportive of the TEXTartsTEXT. Maybe I can act and keep the gun shop..." She trailed off into her thoughts. Peyton interjected. " Are there jobs available here for actors and actresses?"

"Yeah, that's what I'm saying," Jamie said to Mirror. He looked at Peyton, then shrugged. "Well, like I said, we have the theater that was built a few years ago, but there was never too much use put to it. A friend of mine, who happens to be a traveling stage magician, was one of the people who wanted it to be built, but she's not around. It'd be great to have something, though. I'm sure we could get enough interest to put on some sort of production."

Mirror nodded enthusiastically. "If we could get enough actors out for a play or musical that would be great! I'd totally be game for that!" She peered into his empty tea cup. "Can I get you something else?"

"No, no, that's all right, thanks," Jamie said. He was also feeling enthusiastic, despite all the events that he had recently been through. It occurred to him that, even if there was a play, someone would come and crash it, like they did with everything in this town. Still, he couldn't help but think about it.
"Well, I'll see what I can do along those lines. Directing shouldn't be too difficult." He smiled.

Mirror nodded, " Well if you need an actress, just sign me up!"
Peyton pulled out a pocket watch from his vest and saw that they had been talking for well over an hour, and smiled. Maybe they would make friends in Clauden.
