Elaina sat in the church, still debating her stand on whether or not God really existed. She had been a little conflicted over that since she had first experienced death. When she died Elaina didn't remember any burning pit of fire and brimstone, which undoubtedly would have been the place she would have went, but she didn't exacyl see pearly gates either. There was... nothing... then there was Clauden. Perhaps it was simple as the fact that Clauden was death and death was Clauden.

Clauden: Bringer of death. Beginning of the afterlife.
Elaina had no idea what was what anymore, and that was most of what had changed about her. Since she was not as confident as before she lost some of her drive to get out there and actually do something. The church seemed like the best place to be.

Elaina didn't know what the hell was going on in Clauden, but she didn't think it was her place to care either.

Wolf was angry. He had lived in Clauden for at least a year and he still had not made any progress. No factories had been built. No psychos had been deported. He wasn't even sure if he was legally mayor, but there sure didn't seem to be anyone above him.
What's more, his only daughter who wasn't sick in bed was running around town, causing problems with that no good cousin of hers. He was sure of it. Winona wouldn't even do anything about it, just sulk in all her fancy jewelry that his money brought her.
That's what brought him to the church.
He wasn't a particularly religious man, but he didn't lack faith either. A little praying couldn't hurt. He didn't think his intentions were bad. He just wanted to clean up the town a little bit and make it into something that actually contributed to society. He couldn't help it if he happened to make a lot of money on the way...
He sat in the back and didn't notice Elaina, but if anyone was in the church, they probably would have heard the doors creaking open.

The doors indeed made a creaking noise. As deep as Elaina's thoughts were, her thoughts were interrupted. She quickly snapped her head around to see who had come in. She stood, just in case it was someone her stomach couldn't handle. Her senses told her that he either was a man of importance or used to be judgning his appearance. Either way the poor guy probably needed to pray or something.

That was probably the most sympathetic Elaina had ever felt. Normally she would brush it off and say that's what he got for having too much power or something. Now she sort of felt bad that he had to pray to an entity that may or may not be there to hear his prayer, assuming he was going to pray.

Elaina calmed down from her tensed position. "Sorry..." Elaina said to the man briskly, "I, um, I was about to leave if you'd like to be alone." She lied. Although she did kind of lie in saying that she was about to leave, she did it in the sincerest of reasons. This attitude was new for Elaina, but she could make it work. Somewhere in the midst of all she had gone through... Elaina went through a change. She didn't think it was spiritual, but she didn't think she did it herself.

Wolf shook his head, removing his top hat.
"The church is open to everyone," he said simply, before nodding politely to Elaina. He realized he should probably stand in the presence of a lady, but he was tired and not necessarily a stickler for manners.
"I know you, don't I? Yes, the science show... the woman who was lucky enough to get a second chance at life. Though I'm not a fan of the abnormal, I must admit that this is truly a wonderous development. Live well. Not everyone gets such a chance."

" I must admit that this is truly a wonderous development. Live well. Not everyone gets such a chance."

Elaina frowned. The science show. It seemed she really couldn't escape all of that. That very experience was what made her doubt everything. Because Elaina was not SUPOOSED to be alive, she had every reason to believe that fate would have its hand in bringing her back where she belonged.

"You're right... not everyone gets it, but then again... I wish now that I hadn't been brought back." Elaina said as she sat in a random pew. "I didn't deserve it. There are others more deserving." Boy was that true. There were a lot of people who could have used the second chance at life other than Elaina.

"Are you so sure?" Wolf said thoughtfully, examining the architecture. Punnett Church was an interesting place. He would have to come here more often.
"Doesn't everyone deserve an equal chance at living? After all, we all sin. We also all do things to benefit others. How can you be certain that any others could deserve life more than you? They could turn sour the moment they returned to life."

"Can't say that I wasn't sour in both lives. In my first chance I abandoned my faith for a life that seemed more exciting and benefitial... but bad. Then I came back and took part in the same excrement." Elaina winced as she realized she had yet again curse in the church.

"Sorry, old habits die hard." Elaina admitted, "I don't know... maybe everyone does deserve the same chance, but why me? Why do I have to go through this? I know that sounds selfish after getting a second chance... but it was a mistake." Elaina looked up to Wolf. "More of a mistake than I ever made in my first life."

"Then maybe there was a reason you were brought back. To right your wrongs, or to help someone live," Wolf said thoughtfully.
"My daughter Scarlett died young. She always thought she would have had more time to fix all that she had done to others. Now, one of my daughters is ill, and though I can't say that she has made many mistakes, I worry that my youngest may also get sick and die with the same regrets."
He shook his head and smiled sadly.
"Not to bother you with sentiments. It's just on my mind."

"Not to bother you with sentiments. It's just on my mind."

Elaina frowned. "My god that's terrible." She muttered more as a consolence to herself than to him. Because of her tendency to not want to let go of the past she had failed to realize that there might be other suffering. Then agian, it was clauden...everyone suffered at some point in time. Elaina figured anyone that came to clauden happy would eventually be unhappy.

Even that happy-go-lucky fruit stand owner had her life end as a complete hell. And that woman was practically the nicest, happiest person that she had ever seen before. Elaina sighed. She wasn't quite sure of what to say. Nothing would help, not in the situation he was in. It suddenly filled Elaina with a certain amount of sadness that she couldn't remember her own father ever worrying about her like that.

"All that... and yet you still smile..." Elaina mused out of curiosity. "I wish there was something that I could do." She suddenly chuckled, "You know, the old me would have never said that."

Wolf smiled slightly and nodded.
"Thank you for your sympathy," he said. "You know, you don't seem half as bad as some of the other evils in the world. If you want to choose a better path for yourself, I'm sure it is not too late. If you knew me better, this might sound strange coming from me, but I fear that no one else will tell you."

Elaina smiled, "Thanks. I'm sure you're probably right. People that you treat like crap usually don't encourage you to make better of your new life." She tried to sound as joking as she could, but really she knew that would be the way it was. Elaina was just glad that someone was willing to believe it wasn't too late. It made her feel like she had a chance to turn things around.

"It, um,.." She paused. Elaina always had a problem with mushy situations. "It means alot to me that you said that." Elaina, of course, said that way too fast. She wasn't sure if he'd be able to understand it. Something Elaina would have to get used to was telling people how she REALLY felt. Lying just came so easy to her.

Wolf narrowed his eyes with some confusion after she said something quickly, but after a few minutes he worked it out.
"Well, I should probably be going. Sitting here all day isn't helping to improve the town," he said, standing up. He hadn't stayed long, but he didn't feel nearly as bad as he had when he came in. It had been a long time since he had anything close to a real conversation.
"It's been a pleasure talking to you."
