As people begin to arrive in the building, a man on stage is constantly reannouncing,
"Welcome, everyone! Today we will have peformances by Travis Hallow, Francesca Scowley, Conwell James, Jamie Caldwell, Sabra Starr, Rena, Kuro Imari and Miakoda Cassidy!"
Meanwhile, the performers prepare backstage.

Lavender, Wolf and Winona Scowley took their seats in box one and looked around.
Lavender seemed more pale than usual and every now and then coughed a few times.
Winona glanced at her sympathetically.

"You sure you don't want to go home, dear?"

"No, I'm fine. Thank you, though."

Francesca sighed as she sat backstage, brushing her hair before securing it into a bun.
"Looks like I'm doing this thing by myself. I guess I'll have to think of a backup song to sing."

Sitting there he looked around. Wasnt Rena in the variety show also? He Thought to himself quietly. he couldn't wait though.

No one really knew him so he sorta sat there and watch everyone prepare

Conwell's clumsy fingers fumbled around with the bow-tie, the silk repeatedly rejecting his attempts to make it look nice on him. Of course, the bow-tie didn't matter much... He was already wearing his trademark black cape, top-hat, dress shirt, fancy shoes, mahogany cane and shiny pants that sparkled like a thousand mirrors. Sean was wearing what looked like Satan's Parka- it was pink and red polka-dotted on a yellow background, and had a large bear shaped hood pulled over his heat. The others weren't to be found... In fact, they gave notice a day ago that they were leaving the troupe, that it was 'going nowhere', and had already boarded the train. "Sean, you ready for this?" Conwell asked, trying to calm himself by thinking about Adrian. "I was born ready. Where are the pups?"

As if in response to his question, Jamari and Jabari came skidding around the corner, stumbling over each other. "Papa! Papa! Mama's in the audience!" "Mama? You mean... Adrian?" Jabari blinked at him, and did the puppy equivalent of a nod. "Yeah, yeah, I heard you call her that! Mama's making rude gestures at the ticket booth lady, though."

Conwell slapped his forehead. He should have told Andy to be on her best behavior tonight... Oh well, as long as she didn't drag him offstage by his ear (something he wouldn't put past her) it would be fine. "Go tell her to calm down, I can't meet her yet." "Race you there, 'bro!"

Jamari and Jabari ran off yet again, and Conwell called after them. "Be back in time for the show, you two!"

Travis's name somehow came up first on the itinerary. That meant that out of everybody performing the lad had to go first.

The audience was hushed when two strong men walked on the stage. They were carrying a large heavy wooden trough style bucket. Inside the bucket were four large Coy fish.

Travis nervously stepped onto the stage. "Howdy ladies and gentlemen," his voice trembled, "Tonight I'm goin ta show ya a trick of astounding disbelief." Travis had his mom help write the speech.

Travis had his rifle slung over his shoulder. "Imma gonna take this here rifle and point it into the bucket and shoot a fish! Them fish can't get too far out a range on account of this here pail being small. Can I have a drum roll?" Travis asked the stage musicians.

A drumm roll beat out as Travis unslung his rifle and aimed it into the barrel.

Two shots rang out and water from the bucket began to spill everywhere. "Dang it," Travis said, "I missed."

Travis squeezed his finger again and another shot rang out.

His face suddenly lit up and he pulled a dead Coy out of the bucket.

"Thank ya Ladies and gentlemen," Travis said taking a bow and waiting for appluase.

The strongmen immediatley began to clear the stage.

Darius tapped his fingers impatiently and snapped open his pocket watch. "Where is that girl?"
Both he and Cornelius were already in costume with their long capes, musketeer style clothing and masks hanging around their necks.

"Here! I'm here!" Miakoda called as she rushed in, late, and was immediately shushed by several people and informed the show had begun. She breathed heavily as she removed her winter cloak and draped it over a chair, revealing a glitzy red outfit of a corset and shorter than average skirt. Hastily, she began to fix her make-up in a mirror.
"Cornelius? We have everything, dear? Birds, chairs, mirrors, flowers, and all that? I really have no idea what I'm going to do, so you might as well have brought it all."

"Uh..." Cornelius choked. "You... wanted it all?" Darius laughed bitterly and shook his head.
Miakoda just looked at him, then continued her task.

"Don't worry. We'll just make do with what we have."

The three had fallen silent as they listened to Travis's act. When it was over, Miakoda had to smile.

"Did he just do what I think he did?"

From the audience, Larghetto crossed his arms and glared.
"What kind of act is that anyway. Killing."

Fermata made a point to jab Larghetto in the arm with her elbow as she clapped for Travis.
"At least applaud. However disrespectul the talent may be, you have to admit that it would be a bit difficult to do."

"He did," Francesca said with a smirk in response to Miakoda. She joined the applause briefly, then folded her gloved hands in her lap and nodded at Kuro.
"Hey, you. Are you singing too? I was going to do a duet, but my partner dropped out on me, so I guess I'm going solo."

He glanced at franchesca. the Demon Silver eyes glaring at her kindly.
"Yup, I can't wait to preform. i'm new to clauden, and I can't wait to start off my first night by being in the Variety Show" he said to her with a smile on his face.
"I may be a demon but that doesn't mean I can't be a social demon right?" he was second to last on the intenary, so that made him sorta happy and relieved.

Adrian took a seat in the booth Scott had reserved for them, so she could see Conwell preform up close. She looked up at the stage, and couldn't help but burst out laughing when the kid made an entire act out of shooting fish in a bucket... Literally. Not only that, but two out of three times he had missed the shot. Hell, if it was Adrian up there, she would have actually made a show of it. She would have put the bullet into the dead center of the fish from fifty paces. Of course, this was so much more entertaining. After her laughs had died out, she wiped her eyes which were actually beginning to water from laughing so hard, and waited patiently for the next preformance to come on... Quite a feat for her.

Delia rushed quickly to her box, Kappa following close behind. She fumbled through her bag searching for her tickets and briefly showing it to the man who had requested to see them.
She'd already missed the first act. What a shame, but from the quiet, unenthuseastic sounding applause it couldn't have been much to have missed. She took her seat with a polite smile and nodded for Kappa to take the one next to her.

"Thank you, sir," Francesca said with a smile. When the water was cleaned off of the stage and her name was called out, she stepped out of the backroom and to the stage.
Her nerves were getting to her. She had never felt nervous before... but then again, she had never sang in front of a full audience before.

"We parted in silence, we parted at night,
On the banks of that lonely river,
Where the fragrant pines their boughs unite,
We met and we parted forever.
The nightbird’s song and the stars above
Told many a touching story
Of friends long pass’d to the kingdom of love,
Where the soul wears its mantle of glory,
Where the soul wears its mantle of glory!"

For the first few stanzas, her voice was somewhat quiet, but Francesca began to gain confidence and increase in bravado as the song progressed.

"We parted in silence, our cheeks were wet
With tears that were past controlling,
And we vow’d that we’d never, no never forget,
And the vows at the time were consoling,
But the lips that echoed the vows of mine
Are as cold as that lonely river,
And the sparkling eye, the spirit’s shrine,
Has shrouded its fire forever,
Has shrouded its fire forever!"

"And now, on the midnight sky I look,
My heart grows full to weeping.
Each star is to me a sealed book,
Some tale of that lovely one keeping:
We parted in silence, we parted at night,
On the banks of that lonely river.
But the color and bloom of the byegone years
Shall hang o’er its waters forever,
Shall hang o’er its waters forever!"

She smiled at the audience as the applause broke out.

Perrin watched the performances in silence from his box.
The girl had had some talent, but the boy, maybe not so much.
