xx Fae Ranch ~ Raven's home
« Thread started on: Feb 23rd, 2006, 11:08pm »

The ten acre plot of land spreads out, horses grazing quietly all over. In the middle of this is is a single bedroom house. Next to that, is a large barn.

Inside the house one will find a stove, a bed, a chair, and a basket full of herbs and vegetables.

One wall is dedicated to faded pictures of family, and horses.

Raven returned home, and headed out to the feild, her eyes watching the new colt from earlier this morning as he hid behind his mother with wide, curious eyes. She smiled.

"Well aren't you just the most gorgeous thing. I'll call you Melancholy September."

It was getting dark quick. Hellister was carrying a box of garlic cloves. He saw Raven in the field and walked towards her. "Hi," he said, "I'm here a bit ealier then expected. I brought a down payment for one of your horses. It is a little something special that may keep away, well never mind just take them."

Raven turned and smiled, boosting up so she sat on the fence.

"Garlic hm?" She sniffed it and smiled. "I appreciate it. So, tell me. Who has your interest? I've got arabs, mustangs, appalosa's, some paints. Fifty horses all together if I add it up right."

"Hmmm, something small and strong, no draft horses, I suppose a mustang, what would you recommend," he smiled.

Raven swung about on the fence and looked around. Shortly, she gave a sharp, loud whistle.

Hoof beats pounded and a dark brown horse pounded up tossing her head.

"Two years old, haven't bred her yet. She's been broken, and flies like the wind." The rubbed the horses neck and jumped onto the horse bareback. "Her names Morrigan. Half bred mustang. I'm not sure what else she is. But she's sturdy, and smart." The horse nickered, putting her head over the fence to sniff the man. Raven smiled and patted the horses neck.

"Whaddya think?"

"Morrigan," Hellister said extending his hand palm up to the horse. "I think she will do just fine. I am no horse whisperer though so I shall need a saddle, bridle and reins. Unlike you I can not ride bareback. I will visit an outfitter at once. Do tell me what other herbs do you want. I have something for every ailment of the flesh and bone. And I have those for the mind too. And those for the dead, or those who wish to be. But you needn't decide now, there is plenty of time," Hellister said.

"I have not made arrangements with the stable master to house a horse so for now I will leave her in your custody." Hellister smiled, "You know some say the four horsemen of the appocolypse will avenge this earth riding bareback. But I don't recall any legends of there being a beautiful one within their company. Farewell for now Raven," Hellister left somewhat in a hurry hoping to catch Fermata in the marketplace.

Raven lay across Morrigan's neck with a warm smile, her lids half closed lazily.

"Such a kind man." She ran her fingers through the long hair of the horse.

"Boarding arrangements," she chuckled, "a fitter," she laughed a little more, "He could have just asked me, I'll gladly do both for free."

The horse nickered in agreement it seemed and moved over to her feed trough, eating quietly.

After a few minutes, Raven slid down off of the horse and kissed its muzzle when it looked up curiously.

"You be a darlin and dont get wounded or anything ya hear?" She turned and walked back, jumping the fence and heading into her home.

~Three hours later~

Raven lay, staring up at the ceiling with a long drawn sigh. She had slept, one, maybe two hours, before she had woke yet again. Something was knawing at her mind.

She stood, and walked out side, looking around.

"Ail," she called.

Within a few moments, a large, pure black arabian horse trotted up to her, tossing his head. She grabbed up his halter and slid it on, adjusting the hacamore bit appropriatly before attatching the reins.
She led him around the side of the house, and into the barn, where she swung blankets, and a saddle onto his back, cinching it as needed before she mounted him and rode him out.

"C'mon boy."

She headed towards town.

Jed is tired. This house was very far for him to walk. Especially because he had to make another trip to Mrs. Ellison's pasture to retrieve the rusty saw. Jed notices that it doesn't appear that anyone is home. He takes the cows liver and throws it into some brush near a corral. He flings the saw far off the path of a riding trail. Jed walks off drunk as a skunk.

Raven rode up to the house slowly, her eyes scanning the area curiously as Ail sniffed the air, finding something unfamiliar.

When they neared some bushes he whinnied and shied away, looking at the other horses who were sniffing curiously at something.

Raven furrowed her brow, and slid down off of her mount, walking to the bushes. She pulled them apart, and wrinkled her nose indisgust.

"Aw he!! !" She looked to Ail and threw herself back up onto him.

"D@## it!" She reared the horse to turn around and kicked, causing him to break into a run into town.

Hellister and Fermata walked up to the ranch a bit out of breath as it was quite a ways. Hellister walked up to the door and knocked. "Knock Knock," a few minutes passed. "This is not a good sign Fermata," Hellister said. "Raven raises horses she can't afford to be gone from her ranch for long. Where might she be I wonder? Do you think that town officials may have already taken her for questioning?"

Fermata shook her head,
"Non.... The sheriff cannot even search for his son on his own, or even get other officers to do it... He made Larghetto do it," she smiled slightly,
"For me... it seems more likely that she went to find the officials."

Raven, on Ail, blazed a path up the trail that led to her home, shouting furious curses the whole way. The large black beast skidded to a halt when she yanked on his reins.

"I take it," she gazed down at her visitors, "That this would be the young Fermata that the kind sheriff mentioned was also accused of witch craft." The horse turned full circle, imitating the obvious stress on the womans face.

"Well, isn't this peachy. What can I do for you two?"

"Bonsieur, Madame," Fermata said with a polite curtsie, seeing that Hellister had fallen silent,
"Monsieur Scowley would like his horse."
