"SERENA?!" Shouted Rowena Anderson as she traveled down the long flight of stairs. "SERENA?! Where are you?!" As she reached the first floor she looked around. "Where is that god awful child?" she muttered to herself irritably. Rowena clenched her fist slightly.
"SERENA ANDERSON! Get out here right now!" She shouted once more.

Jason, who was sitting around the corner answered. "She said she was moving out." he said lazily. "Couldn't take anymore of your crap. Anyways... can't say I don't agree with her. You're a witch." he chuckled at Rowena's look.
"You should know by now, Rowena, that Serena hates you. Always has..." he said as he stood and stretched.

"Your father is not going to like this." Rowena countered.

"I don't think we care." Jason added with a smile.

"She'll be back." Rowena said bitterly as she stormed back up there stairs leaving Jason sitting in a chair.

As Serena saw the house come into view she sighed. Time to face the inevitable. Of course she expected that there would be some yelling and some slapping and some gnashing of teeth, but she couldn't let Dan hear or see any of that.
"Um, there it is." She said, motioning to the rather large house. Serena could see that nothing had changed since she had left that morning. PRobably not a good thing,

Dan's eyes widened at the sight of the rather large house.

"Yeah, this isn't on any of my rounds, only the fancy milkmen get to come to this snazzy place, not savages like me."

He ran up to the house, letting go of Serena to positions himself against the wall next to the door. Back against the wall, he slided back and forth from the window to the door, listening hard for any noises. Although he thought he heard something from time to time he couldn't be certain, he then called back to her, louder than he had planned to, "So just how many zombies are here anyways?"

Serena looked at Dan, surprised, "Oh, um, there's no zombies that live here." She said quickly. "None that I know of anyways." she added. "I don't th-think there are any." She countered. She sighed.
"Just my dad, brother, and wicked step mother." Serena said a little more clearly, and a little less rushed.

Dan stopped when he heard of the lack of zombies. Hanging his head, feeling rather embarrassed, "My mistake, I thought you said something about a House of the Dead." Dan walks to the front door and leaned back against it, taking his hat off for a moment to wipe the sweat from his brow.

"Hows that whole wicket stepmother thing working out for you?"

((OOC: Sorry for the wait.))

"Hows that whole wicket stepmother thing working out for you?"

Serena shrugged. She didn't think that she would end up talking about Rowena. But her feelings about the matter were so strong that she could barely resist when the subject came up. It wasn't as if Dan wanted to know all about her life, and if he did... well he'd be pretty bored if she told him.
"It's not." Serena said, "It's not working out for me that is." she added so that her statement made sense.

"I hate her." Serena said in the nicest way she could muster up. "She's awful... she th-thinks that just because she married my father and tried to take the place of my mother... she can be as horrible to us as she wants." She finally drew in a deep breath of air.
"I planned on moving out soon... but, uh, well, um... I don't have enough money yet." Serena said nervously. She wondered if Rowena could hear her.... she doubted it, but still.

Dan sat on the steps leading towards the door, not particularly tired, but he decided it would be best to sit anyways.

"Or you could move in with somebody you know. If you really wanted to leave. I mean, it's cheaper you know. If you really hate her I guess."

He stares absentmindedly at the doors to the house, halfway hoping to meet somebody else, as his currently had an extremely short attention span, and needed more people to talk to. He begins to think of plans to call attention outside.

"Or you could move in with somebody you know. If you really wanted to leave. I mean, it's cheaper you know. If you really hate her I guess."

Serena decided not to reply to that. She didn't feel the need to point out that she didn't really know anyone. Of course she knew Dan, but she didn't think it would beappropriate for her to bring that up with him at this point. Talk about uncomfortable. There was Wesley, who she didn't even really know.
Really there was no way she could find someone that quickly. There would always be little odd jbs she could do around the town to ern money though. She thought she had heard something about a play or something.

"Would you like to, um, meet my, uh, you know... family?" Serena asked finally. That question could be her death sentence, but at this point she didn't care. She had made what she considered to be a friend, and ifher family didn't like him, well, that was too bad.
Serena was fairly positive though that Dan would be quite a match for her step mother.

Dan's grin began to slowly creep across his face much in the way a speeding bullet isn't slow. He focused his attention on Serena, his eyes narrow and attentive, his look was painfully mischievous.

"I would love to," He said in a sly tone, rising to his feet. He took a brief moment to correct his appearance the best he could before Take place by her side, following Serena diligently and waiting to see these parents she was talking about.

Serena nodded then knocked on the door three times. She was absolutely sure that nothing good would come of this. Nothing good ever could. Her family was better off hidden away from any friends she made anywhere. Not that she had that many to begin with. Running could be heard from the inside, then yelling, and then... it stopped.
The door flew open quickly, and there stood Jason, Rowena, and her father at the base of the stairs.

"I told you she'd be back. Little snot can't even make it on her own doing chores, let alone REAL work." Rowena scoffed as she turned back to look at Serena's father with a sweet, yet somehow uncaring smile.

Jason, Serena's twin brother, shook his head. "You know what... shut up, Rowena. Nobody likes you anyways." He looked to Dan and raised an eye brow. "Hey, Serena who's that?" He shook his head "Who are you?" he asked to Dan that time.

"Oh, this i--"

"HAH! Bringing strange men home. Should have figured that daughter of yours was up to no good. Ronald, get down here this instant and beat some sense into your daughter." Rowena demanded.
It didn't seem as if Ronald were exactly excited about being yelled at.

"Calm down, Rowena. I'm sure that there's an explination." ronald said, still at the base of the stairs. "Serena, please explain who this man is, and why you have brought him to our home."

Rowena crossed her arms and looked down at Serena, waiting for the perfect response. Unfortunately, this took advantage of Serena's poor social skills. In times like this it was hard for even her to speak to her family.
Serena cast a side long glance at Dan and mouthed, 'I'm sorry.'

"I-I-I met him on Liliy Hill. I was watching the sun set, and we just started talking. He walked me home since it was so late and it was getting pretty dark." Serena explained as calmly as she could. At least she only stuttered once.

Jason chidded in with, "Sounds fine to me. He actually sounds like a nice guy."

"Hog wash." Rowena spat. "I'd bet my bottom dollar that you're lying to us, Serena. You KNOW what the punishment is for lying."

To this Ronald said nothing. Serean only stood there in understanding that she had just drug Dan into the wolves, and she couldn't be more ashamed of her family at the very moment.

Dan's grin quickly turned to a frown mixed with a hint of confusion when Rowena began speaking. She was noisy and her voice pierced into his head like nails on a chalk board.

He took a breath in as if to speak before Jason chimed in, instantly making himself forget whatever it was he was about to say. Jason seemed to be a much nicer person, he regained a smile on his face, with the false hope that Rowena had been silenced. When he opened his mouth to begin speaking, his train of thought was once again knocked from its tracks.

Dan's face distorted itself again, was he really a strange man? If so, how is it that a Milk Man could be viewed as strange, is the town really so far gone, was it really that lost. Dan quickly began to ignor what was being said around him, instead wondering how it was the town came to view milk men as strange people, rather than lovable scamps (who sometimes enjoy the pleasure of fine drinks).

It wasn't until Serena began speaking again did he listen, what she said he agreed with, and no difference in the story. This made him even more annoyed when Rowena called it a lie. In his mind, she was calling him a liar, and considering they just met, she didn't have nearly enough time to learn that he actually was a liar yet. However, he was never one to turn down a bet.

He reached out his hand in a friendly gesture, "Very well o' Queen of Hags, I accept your bet. In kind I put up my bottom dollar that she is in fact not lying. As you seem to have a fancy house, I think yours is more bottom than mine, but it was your bet. I'm all in." Dan seemed whimsical, yet oddly serious. Perhaps it was the alcohol talking, or maybe it was his way of saying hello, or just his idea of a practical joke.

Serena and Jason laughed in unison at what Dan said to Rowena. It was something that was long over due. Rowena had always been asking to be smarted off to, but every time Serena did it she would get a few good lashings.

"If you'd like to be rude, then you can get the hell out of here and leave our daughter alone." Rowena said harshly.

"I'm not your daughter." Serena said, feelign a new burst of confidence. She didn't care if she were in front of Dan. "You know what. I have had it. I'll talk to and hang around Dan if I want to, and there's no way in hell I am going to let you talk to him like that."
Serena was surprised at her sudden outburst. "Now apologize." She said sharply.

Rowena looked offended, "Oh you're going to get it tonight."

"APOLOGIZE!" Serena shouted.

Rowena sneered, "When hell freezes over."

Serena simply laughed, "Might not be long... if someone kills you right now your cold hear will ice it right over." she said without stuttering. "If Dan wants to insult you then you're going to damn well deal with it."

Jason and Ronald were too shocked to even say anything about Serena's outburst. None of them had ever seen her act like that. EVER.

Dan was dumbfounded for a moment by Serena's outburst; However, it was not due to her normal shy nature, but rather the fact that a near stranger would stick up for him. He then turned back to Rowena with a new found outlet of entertainment.

"Yeah, aint nobody allowed to make fun of me but me, ya dig it? And Serena aint gonna 'get' nothing if you smell what I'm steppin in. Aint ya ever heard of treatin guests with respec...and....and uh...uhhhh.."

Dan's face suddenly turned pale and sweaty. He stopped talking on concentrated on breathing and staying awake. Everything was spinning again, he had to focus hard to stay standing. His stomach was turning upside down, doing flip flops, he almost couldn't hold it anymore. He held up his finger as if to say something, and brought it down before saying whatever it was he had planned. Just standing there with a blank look on his face.

Serena looked at Dan, worried that something rally bad was about to happen. "Dan.... are you alright?" She asked quietly. She was worried that Dan might really have something terribly wrong with him. Unfortunately only one member of her family cared to ask.

"Ser, I don't think he's okay." Jason said to Serena quietly. "Bring him in and sit him down." he added as he pushed the door wide open.
"No, Jason. I'll not have that in my house." Rowena complained. "It'll have to stay outside." She said in a demanding tone.
"Rowena, let the man come inside." Ronald finally put in as he stood and walked towards the door. Rowena complaied, stilll, mumbling something about Serena cleaning it up if Dan puked.

Serena took Dan by the hand. "Come on, Dan." She said softly. "Come inside and rest."

Dan had to put his arm around Serena again, "No, I'm fine. It's just late is all. Yeah, that's it. The milk shift starts early, and it's late, so I'm tired. That and Rowena, just the sight of her. Uhg..."

Dan perked up slightly, despite the nausea he had, feigning comfort the best he could. He straightened up slightly and walked inside, however did not sit down. Instead he took in the scenery of the house, and then leaned in close to Serena and asked in a whisper, "Does she keep referring to me as it?"
